2005 Conference >Goal
Conference aims to build financial planning community Insurance Journal,
April 2005
The goal of the upcoming Canadian Institute for Financial Planners' (CIFPs) annual meeting
is to build a financial planning community in Canada, explains Keith Costello, managing
director of the organization.
This year's event, to be held June 19 to 22 at the Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort, marks
the third edition of the annual conference. He expects the conference to attract some 300
attendees who will have the opportunity to network and create ties with other financial
planners.
Also, Mr. Costello explains that financial planning is the main focus of the CIFPs'
conference as opposed to most other industry conferences that may only feature
one or two sessions on the subject. "If you want to go to a venue where you can
learn everything on financial planning, this is the place," he states.
The aim is to give participants the tools they need to succeed, Mr. Costello adds.
Every attendee will also receive a copy of the organizations annual publicalion,
Current Trends and Issues in Financial Planning. They will also receive what Mr.
Costello calls the "bible" for financial planners, a best practices guide.
Registration can be done online at www.cifps.ca
or by phone at 1-866-933-0233. There is currently an early bird special in effect
for those booking before May 10 with the cost being $400 for members, $500 if
you become a member and attend, and $650 for non-members. An evening with anchorman
Peter Mansbridge, is also scheduled for the event. He will discuss what it means
to be Canadian, and how our shared national story has shaped us at both an individual
and a collective level. (DC)
